Our General Chemistry framework molecular model kit is designed to help General Chemistry students. The kit's metal clusters are the atoms and the colored tubing represent the bonds made to other atoms. Tubing and clusters are interconnected to construct three dimensional models of molecules, making it easier to see their shape and the relative arrangement of the atoms. In General Chemistry drawing two dimensional Lewis structures can confuse students about their actual 3D geometry. Our molecular models give valuable insight into molecular polarity and geometric isomerism of co-ordinations compounds such as cis/trans and medial/facial isomers, stereo isomers like R/S mirror images and structural isomers of both Organic and Inorganic molecules. The metal clusters included are suitable for creating linear, angular, trigonal planar, tetrahedral, trigonal bipyramidal and octahedral geometries. Enough pieces to build several molecules at once for side by side comparisons. This is a framework molecular model kit suitable for college level General Chemistry for students and instructors alike. This kit comes in a plastic case with a hinged lid that latches shut and is small enough to be carried in your purse or backpack. They are perfect for topics such as coordination compounds and their isomers, Lewis structures and orbital hybridization. Many colleges and universities incorporate a model building exercise in their laboratory curriculum as well. The student kit contains the same colored tubing as the AP kit pre-cut to a 1 inch = 1 Angstrom scale. They also include angles connectors allowing for bidentate ligands when studying co-ordination compounds. There are enough pieces to build a multitude of molecules and do side by side comparisons.
